The patch that Microsoft issued to fix the problem is not 100% full proof. No malicious content has been spread yet but computers on networks are affected even after the patch fix. This could have possibly been a test for the worm creator to see if his virus release was detected.

I didn't know their patch wasn't effective!

    According to the article the worm virus was spread with no malicious content . I think someone was just screwing around to see how far they can go without causing any damage. It definately has opened the eyes and the wallets of Microsoft.
